Youm-e-Ali was commemorated on Wednesday in the city with religious solemnity and fervour with a commitment to follow the footsteps of Hazrat Ali (RA) and to work for the solidarity of the Muslim Ummah.

Main Majlis was held at the Nishtar Park. After the Majlis was over a procession was taken out. It passed through its traditional route and ended at Imambargah Husainian Iranian, Kharadar in the evening. Iftar was arranged at this Imambargah.

The procession moved slowly from the Nishtar Park towards its final destination. During the procession Nauha and Soz-o-Salam were recited. The mourners offered Zohrain on the M. A. Jinnah Road.

Ulema and Zakireen highlighted the life of Hazrat Ali (RA) and preached brotherhood at this time of trial when the entire Muslim Ummah was in distress. The speakers called upon the people belonging to different sects of Islam to shun their differences and get united.

They said that differences between the sects were of trivial nature and could be ignored for the greater cause of unification of the Ummah.

They said that the earthquake in Pakistan was a reminder of our deeds and we should learn the lesson; the God is great and is the unifying factor. People should forget the past and begin a brighter future.

They said that Hazrat Ali (RA) was the embodiment of scholarship, bravery and generosity. He was the most tolerant of men.

They said that following in his footsteps Muslim Ummah could meet the threat from its enemies.

Throughout its route from Britto Road, Purani Numaish, M.A. Jinnah Road, Saddar, Regal Chowk, Tibet Centre, again on M.A. Jinnah Road, Bolton Market and Finally to Kharadar, Imambargah Husainian Iranian heavy contingent was deployed to facilitate safe passage to the procession.

All shops and market areas along the route were closed. Vehicular traffic was diverted to alternative routes. The day passed off peacefully. All sensitive places such as mosques and Imambargahs were fully protected by the law-enforcement personnel.
